20,000 feet above northern Germany, after an air raid over Bremen, December 1943, Luftwaffe fighters attack a B-17, separating it from its bomb group. With his Flying Fortress shot to pieces and most of his crew injured, the USAAF flight commander has a fateful encounter with a lone enemy fighter pilot.
